Most 75% keyboards use between 81 and 84 switches one for every key. The exact number depends on the board, not a fixed standard. Full-size keyboards use 104 or more switches, TKLs use around 87, and the 75% layout sits between them by packing the navigation cluster and arrow keys tightly against the main typing

Mechanical keyboards used to have a frustrating barrier to entry. If you wanted to change the typing feel of your board, you needed a soldering iron, a steady hand, and the confidence to work directly on a live PCB. One small mistake a lifted pad or a cold solder joint could ruin the entire keyboard.
Mechanical keyboards have a habit of pulling people deeper than expected. It starts with switches, then keycaps, and before long you are researching stabilizers or foam mods. Eventually someone mentions QMK or VIA, and you realize customization extends far beyond hardware. The keyboard itself becomes programmable. Keys can be remapped, complex shortcuts can live under
If you’ve ever heard a keyboard that sounds less like a machine and more like a serene natural phenomenon perhaps raindrops gently striking deep mahogany, or smooth marbles dropping onto a thick felt pad you’ve encountered the elusive “thock.” It’s the sound that makes typists close their eyes in satisfaction and has turned the once-humble
